japn 403: Precapstone
Course Description:
This course aims to develop advanced proficiency in communication through oral and written presentations to develop research project for Capstone in Japanese using appropriate media.
Narrative:
The Pre-capstone class prepared us for completing out entire capstone project in the spring. If we had had to do all of this work in the spring semester, I don't know how I would have survived. We mainly dealt with the English portion of the PowerPoint Presentation and surveys of capstone project in this class. Because we have an entire year to work on the capstone project, this class enabled us to go at a slower pace. We were able to constantly get the English portions of our PowerPoint presentations and English surveys looked at and review by our fellow students and teachers. I think the students and teachers critique really helped me in forming my scattered thoughts into a well formed PowerPoint presentation (Sample 1) . This was also true of my survey (Sample 2). The one major skill that was taught to us in this class was learning how to research. We were able to learn how to properly find research material on our topic through our CSUMB library system. In terms of MLO4 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3, I was able to learn the skills needed, research methodologies, and analysis, in order to complete the MLO. During the winter semester we will be translating our surveys into Japanese and them sending them out to all of the participants. From this we will be moving onto the Japanese portion of the capstone project and our essay. I feel that without the extra semester I had to start my capstone, my entire capstone wouldn't have been nearly as good that I know it will turn out.
